Katie graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree in public relations. She earned her law degree from the University of Colorado, where she served as an associate editor for the University of Colorado Law Review. During law school, she served as a

research assistant to bestselling author Marianne Wesson, and as a law clerk in the Office of the City Attorney for Boulder, Colorado. Katie is admitted to practice in all Kansas courts, including the U.S. District Court of Kansas. She is a member of the Riley County, Kansas, and American Bar Associations. She has published articles in National Jurist, Urban Lawyer, and Kansas Government Journal.

Katie serves as a board member for the Homecare and Hospice Agency, and is involved in the Junior League of the Flint Hills.

Katie is married to Chad Jackson, the Small Business Consultant for the Small Business Development Center. They have one daughter, Nora.
